Belt and Road Forum for International Silk
Participation in International silk Union (ISU): French, Italian and Swiss silk manufacturers attended the ISU meeting and the “Belt and Road Forum for International Silk” on 19th -22th October 2017 in Hangzhou...This event allowed European silk associations to exchange views and expertise about silk developments at international level.
Mr Xavier Lepingle (Intersoie President) and Mr Stefano Vitali (Ufficio Italiano Seta President) took the floor representing the European silk industry.
They stressed the importance of quality raw silk issue as well as sustainability challenges.
Historically, silk industry is a highly internationalized industry. Thus they pointed out their priorities as regards international trade, such as the removal of trade barriers, increasing market access on fair terms and keeping markets open.
On Thursday, 19th, Silvio Faragò, representing Stazione Sperimentale per la Seta, Francesco Gatti, from Centro tessile Serico and the French technical commission President Jacques Poulenard attended the experts meeting in order to prepare the Technical Innovation Professional Committee of ISU . They introduced additional information about environmental sustainability and discussed about the improvement of international standard linked to raw silk quality.

During these Hangzhou events, Xavier Lepingle and Chinese official have also inaugurated the Sino-French Silk Year with the opening of the Exhibition at the China National Silk Museum named “Glory on silk, French textiles: from 1700 to present”.
